Toddler freeing his arms from shoulder straps, any advice?

    Hi there,

Our 18 months old son got into the habit of freeing his arms from the shoulder straps in his car seat. This is only happening since he's not wearing his puffy winter jacket anymore.

We have tried tightening the belts and setting them to a higher position, but because our son doesn't have broad shoulders, the straps still end up falling on his elbows.

We were thinking of getting a chest clip like this one

We asked in Mothercare if they were stocking those, but the girl there said she wasn't sure those were legal as in the event of an accident, paramedics would only release the child using the red button.

I am not sure what to do. I just want my son to be safe! Any of you using the chest clip? Or any other suggestion?

    Thanks! Claire

If you're not sure about the safety of the clips, maybe you could look for some shoulder pad strap cover things? They came with my little lady's car seat and we don't have any issues with her getting her arms out. I'll have a quick look and see if I can find anything on the internet so you know what I'm talking about!
