Well, you won't get flatter, that's for sure. 70 bucks already. Bit pricey, no?

The route looks a bit strange too. Very much up and down the river there for about 20 k. Could be a tough straight. But hey......

I did Frankfurt last year and thought it was great. Again you get direct flights out of Dublin, German efficiency and a flat course with about 10,000 runners on it, so it's never lonely, but not overcrowded like Berlin either.

I had been planning to go for Jersey on Oct 2nd but I'm looking a winding up for a PB of sub 3:30 and Cologne looks great. It's received some great reviews on marathonguide.com.

Best flights are in and out of Dusseldorf? I can't seem to find anything out of Dublin. It looks like a short trip from there anyways.

e70 is expensive and the website is like an airline. By the time I've 'rented' a chip and bought a t-shirt it's e100. It's not a cheap hobby but I'm happy to pay it.

I have a few friends who went last year and they really enjoyed it. So much so there going back again this year.

There's Frankfurt on the 30th Oct I think. Same weekend as Dublin, right? At the beginning of the month there's a little one (still 42.1945 kms!!!!) in Metz. That's really close to me and I'm kinda thinking a quiet race without too many spectators and not much hype might be better.

There's Valencia in November which should be fairly flat and weather should be ok.

Is it a relatively flat course? Heard the scenery isn't too great, but really my aim is a PB, so looking for a course with as few hills as possible. I am looking for a marathon around October/November, and having done Dublin last year, I would love to try somewhere different. This is top of my list at the moment!
