you will need to contact the grant office to where your grant application was made, and send them details of you progressing onto second year. they might (more than likely) want an application form filled out (because they will try and stall your application) for god knows what reasons...

but you should be entitled to the grant for second year onwards since you are still progressing.

My son has finished first year Commerce in NUIG and has to do the repeats. He has not received any grant in First Year but my income (or lack thereof) for last year should enable him to qualify for a grant. However, I am totally clueless regarding this whole process and would appreciate any pointers as to where I could get information on applyinh, qualifying etc for grants for 3rd level students.

    Howdy

I got a text last week saying they acknowledge the receipt of my grant application and giving me a reference number. Does this mean that I've been accepted or what? They haven't posted out anything or rang up about needing anything else to go along with the form, should I be taking all this as a good sign?

    Thanks

it means they have your application now, and will process it in due time. your in a queue system, so when ever they get to your application, they will process it, and contact you with either a request for more info, or give you their decision.
