Heuston Station to Coolock commute

Hi all, last week I had an interview with a well known manufacturer in Coolock and I think it went well. The only stumbling block would be the distance I would have to travel to and from work. I live 120km away but as it's mostly motorway it only took me 90 minutes to drive. However, I'm not that keen on racking up 240km a day on my car and am exploring other options should I be called back for a 2nd interview.
I live quite close to a train station so could get the train to Heuston but being a real culchie I haven't a clue about the bus network in Dublin or costs of same.
Are there direct buses to Coolock from Heuston or would I have to get a couple? How much does a journey cost and can I buy a monthly ticket?
All help much appreciated, would really like to have the info if asked at the second interview (fingers crossed!).

    Thanks

Any chance they'll give you a company car?

    Hi Buck,

At present there is no direct bus from Heuston to Coolock, but there are plans for the 79 bus to be extended in that direction. At present Heuston is served very well by bus and it just involves a change in the city centre to another high frequency service to Coolock.

The bus service in the Coolock area is about to change under Network Direct. These changes are expected to happen in the next few weeks.
This Map will give you an overview of services in the area. Depending on your exact destination, the 79 will give you either a direct service, or direct connection to Coolock from Heuston.

In the meantime, you would need to take a 90 or 145 to O'Connell Bridge, and then catch the 128 at Eden Quay to Coolock. You can also make a short walk to Amiens Street to catch a 27, 42, 43 or 128 to Coolock.

This page details a list of prepaid tickets available from Dublin Bus. You should look into getting a tax saver ticket from your employer. You can get a combi bus and rail ticket which will offer great savings compared to paying daily cash fares.

Thanks a million KD345, that's exactly the information I was looking for. That map is very easy to read and the 79 would be great if extended.
Just hope I get a call back for a second interview.
