Smell inside cabin of Diesel Opel Astra 01

I've been to an Opel dealership to try and get the smell that's inside the car sorted but to no avail. Middle and rear exhasust pipes have been replaced and the car was checked for an oil leak but no leak was found.
Injector seals have been replaced too.

The smell is driving me crazy!

    Any ideas anyone?

The garage said they couldn't find any leak near the exhaust and would have to strip down the engine completely to see if it was coming from there - but obviously this would require many hours of labour and no guarantee the leak or whatever would be found. I'm pretty disappointed replacing the exhausts and checking for oil leaks hasn't sorted it.

    Thanks in advance.

A Mechanic (not attached to the dealership) said I was leaking water and put a dye in the system to pinpoint the leak, he also replaced some of hoses, pipes etc. He said that the dye had pinpointed where the leak was coming from and had stopped the leak but when I gave it to the dealership a few weeks later they said there was a water leak problem!

Original mechanic said he had replaced the pipes/hoses not sure how many though or if he replaced the one causing a leak?

Wherever the leak is it's most likely on the return side as the supply side would let air in the system and cause other problems..

coolant leaking onto a how engine etc will give an almost oily/diesel smell. had the same on my subaru impreza. there were no oil leaks/exhaust leaks so i carried out a pressure test of the cooling system and sure enough there was a pin hole in the rad. replaced rad smell gone.

this may not be your problem but id definitly have a pressure test carried. also monitor the water level in the expansion bottle

Funny you say this, the water level was dropping in the expansion bottle but the original mechanic said the level was holding (after he replaced the pipes/hoses) but recently the dealership said there was a leak.
I will defo look into getting a pressure test of the cooling system, is this something only a main dealership can do?

Sorry not quite sure, seems to be an exhaust type smell.
It gives me a headache and I can feel nauseous & dizzy after driving.

Is the smell stronger in the back seat, over the fuel tank?
Is the smell stronger after just filling up to full? Does it go away when tank is low?

If you tape over the dash air ducts, does that help?

think it could be your injector seals , any change in engine noise or black carbon around injectors
