Found this movie very disturbing ( even more so the fact its based on a true story ). A very good horror movie by all accounts.

Would be interested in hearing peoples opinions about this movie

    Brilliant movie.

No fancy effects,no blood and guts, just pure atmosphere and tension throughout.

    Absolutely brilliant.

    Perfectly paced, unbearably tense.

And 'supposedly' a true story, but I take that claim lightly.

I loved every minute of this film, utterly gripping and chilling.
The way the children just go off on the bus after without a care in the world after is crazy.

It's a regular in my DVD player.

It wasn't based on a true story OP.
Regardless, it's definitely one of my favorites. It was also shot on digital for those of ya's interested.

Strange, but I didn't like this film at all. In fact, myself and my friends actually spent most of the end laughing because the noise the kids made when giving chase was so absurd! Perhaps we caught it in the wrong mood, because I've heard nothing but good things from a lot of people. But I thought it was dull and formulaic for the most part, until the interesting ending. Might give it another go, but definitely not as memorable as, say, Inside or Martyrs for me on the French horror scale!

I thought it was a real gem and had some loose similarities to Eden Lake

Maybe not a true story, but it does say at the end that it is based on true events.

That film terrifies me. Really really scary, especially the ending.

I quite liked it up until the ending though the cynical part of me thinks if it was in English it wouldn't be getting half as much praise. It wasn't that much better than 'The Strangers'.
It seems to me that all these 'home invasion' movies end the same way with the victims brutalised and murdered and the bad guys walking away. It's supposed to be disturbing but to me it's just such a cliche and a lazy way out. Just because it's downbeat doesn't mean it's effective.

I see your point but I think this film is different, in that it's kids tormenting adults and eventually kill them because they have nothing better to do with their time and are looking for something to do.. That in my opinion makes it disturbing.

Decent flick with a great opening sequence. Drags a little after that and can feel a bit monotonous but with some very good atmospheric episodes. 6.5/10

The Stangers is a remake/rip off of Ils.

Not really imo. So people come to the house but how many films are like that.

If people like this they should check out Funny Games - nicely twisted film.

I searched for a link there but couldnt find it however Id be 99.9% sure that when The Srangers came out it was touted as being a remake.

French horror pour le gagne! Might check this Ils out, it's great watching it with a French OH so she can tell you what they ACTUALLY say.
