    Don't think, play.
    To answer your concerns:
No you don't need to be a member of a club to play. It helps in that you'd have a regular base to play and practice without having to shell out each time but you can play anywhere on green fees.

No you don't need to bring anyone else with you. Practice is probably easier and better on your own and you can play green fees on your own also. If it's a busy club you can book a single time slot and the club with likely put you out with 2 or 3 others depending how busy the time sheet is. If it's a quite mid week morning then you can play away on your own to your hearts content.

Do you have clubs and gear already? If you're just getting started and have never hit a ball before the best thing to do would be to seek out a local driving range and try and borrow a 7 iron and hit a few buckets of balls. Perhaps also get a lesson to prevent picking up bad habits from the start as they've very hard to get rid off later.

Good luck and enjoy the game, it's a wonderful experience especially on a sunny day when a few shots go your way.

I'd reccommend a few lessons just to get you starting off. Would help you eliminate any bad habits you might have to improve your game.

You're making the right choice and trust yourself.

Personally I played pitch and putt until I was about 25. I gave it up due to moving away from my fav course and I always said I would never ever play golf but this time last year I went for a round with my brothers and bang I was hooked. Have been playing every chance I can ever since and it turns out I can play well! It takes time to get the gear but I'm stocked now and I'm close to joining a club. I play roughly to 16 handicap and it's the best game in the world.

In short just go for it you will never regret it.

Let us know how you're getting on.

If you are thinking about playing in Limerick then you can book Rathbane for under a tenner on teetimes.ie at the moment....

but I would recommend going to a driving range and start to get used to hitting a few drives first. Golf can get frustrating if you are hitting drives left and right..

Don't do it !! It will consume you :p

Just joking it's the best time being miserable you will ever have :D

Enjoy it. If you have time on your hands golf will certainly consume it.

Lessons are a good idea and getting out on your own to practice at your own pace is better than feeling nervous playing with people who are more experienced.

Dont buy an expensive set of clubs until you know that you are going to stick with it and you have an idea what sort of clubs would suit you.

Unless you are playing a lot, joining a club can prove quite expensive on a per round basis. However if you can get out during the week but are less free at the weekend a 5 day membership might be an idea.

    Hey All.
    hope ya are all well.
So an Update. I went to a driving range and smacked a few.
some went far, some never left the tee, some went straight, lol
But i guess thats how it goes.

So wat im wondering next is, is there anyone in Limerick interested
in a game in Rathbane. If ur a pro ill stink but ill get my moneys worth in shots.lol
