Nobody spends life in prison in this country. Haven't you heard? Life is cheap, 10 - 12 years is about all the 'hard' time any murdering kunt will serve.

I'd watch TV on my 42 inch plasma in my cell, get drunk and take drugs.

Just like all prisoners in Irish prisons.

Id create a tunnel over the course of several years and escape through the sewers and while waiting for that id teach everyone this dance

I've about 120 great books on the book shelf that I'm dying to get stuck into but can never find the time. As I'd like to study them rather than read them and then write something about them it would keep me going two years at least, and no doubt inspire many more books. I'd also learn another language and start writing in it. Prison sounds quite attractive! :D

I generally buy my way out before they can charge me with anything.
If I was in Ireland, most likely impossible to do that so I would have to spend some money to get a single cell with tv and xbox, laptop, poteen still, etc.

I would get put in solitary confinement to get away from the general population. I couldnt be arsed about prison, its the people in it who i worry about.

Agreed, I believe they show it to inmates on movie nights as a form off punishment.

The screws also over salt the popcorn if they've been really troublesome.:D

Tbh I would rather kill myself than go to prision for life. Death > Life sentence.

Unless its Ireland, in that case you'll be out in 20 years max.

    Not very well ...

Escape plan would be first on my mind or sue the govenor because of hurt feelings .....or something

For anyone genuinely interested in such matters...John Lonergans (ex Mountjoy warden) book called "the governor" is a crackin' read.
I was always of the opinion that tv's etc were too good for inmates till i read it. Give it a go:rolleyes:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,191 ✭✭✭✭Latchy

Take tv's away from inmates = a lot of bored /fed up inmates = possible trouble for wardens who have enough on their plates and tv is a distraction for as much as a Privilege

And tv can get boring for inmates pretty much as for anybody I'm sure but imagine it beats looking at a wall all day .

What if you're being executed painlessly tomorrow and your life sentence lasts until then? And you want to say goodbye to people and tell them you love them, and tell them some very important piece of information?

And what if you're in a muslim country and offered one night of an outrageous sex orgy with 10 of the most beautiful Arab women before you leave the world....?

Life sentence in ireland is life,up to the parole board to review case, the justice minister has final say in who can be released on licence or not,so meaning just because your out on licence, the minister at anytime has right to haul you back in.

It could be interesting: being locked up 17 hours a day would give you plenty of time to read books you wanted to, write, and expand your consciousness. If you kept quiet, pissed no-one off, and kept yourself as busy as possible it mightn't be too bad: it could even be an opportunity to give your life meaning.

Sure you'd be out in 6 months on a suspended sentance. From what I've heard it'd be like a 6 month holiday that you don't have to pay for. Free food, free tv, free phone, all the games you want...
