Well should it be legal between consenting overage siblings or relatives? I wouldn't but there are some strange people out there.

No there are plenty of people in the world besides your relations.

I shall continue to love my brothers and sisters from a distance.

Yes, it should be legal if we want a fleet of big foreheaded, dribbling spastics roaming the streets.

What two people do in their own time is no business of mine, so long as everyone is consenting I don't give a flying fúck.

Incest is normal in many parts of the world. Marriages between cousins happen very frequently in the middle east.

So would you if you got the chance? I reckon there are plenty of desperate people out there who would if they got half a chance to get the leg over anything.

No it's disgusting but banning incest between consenting adults could be seen as a form of eugenics according to the supporters.

It was ok when we were young but now we are all adults, we had to stop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,371 ✭✭✭✭Zillah

No reasonable person can decide to use force to stop consenting adults from having a relationship.

    - The fact that it disgusts you is irrelevant.
    - The fact that their children are slightly more inclined towards genetic defects is irrelevant. We don't stop diabetics from having children, for example, or people with any number of inheritable diseases.
    - It would not happen on a large enough scale to have any impact on society.

Maybe you have it on the mind if you can discuss the (literal) ins and outs it in such graphic detail ...

From afar. I think she means from across the room or something. I dont know does this involve flashing a bit of tit or something, probably during the Angeles or the six one news.

Unlike some people on AH I'm not tempted by incest. My sister is too precious. And ugly.

"Slightly increased" risk of genetic defects? Even the effects of marrying between relations twice or three times removed are a problem. The Romanovs (Russian royal family) ended up with a very high incidence of haemophilia and were on the decline by 1917: the children were dying of it.

In 2008, the Times reported concerns about the rate of birth defects among Pakistani families in the UK, who keep arranging marriages between cousins. Quote: "Medical research suggests that while British Pakistanis are responsible for 3% of all births, they account for one in three British children born with genetic illnesses." And that's cousins, not siblings.

If there's a "cultural taboo" against incest ... why do you think that is? Taboos don't just pop up at random: they happen for a reason, even if that reason is apparently lost over the centuries.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

I believe that there's more chance of birth defects in children born to cousins than to brothers and sisters.
