So following the trinity ball last night Jessie J came off the stage and tweeted to her 345000 followers

'Just came off stage at trinity ball. Probably one of the hardest gigs to date. To see so many people so drunk they couldnt even stand. Girls unconcious and them literally trampling on eachother. wasn't easy
Not a nice 'all Irish are drunks' advertisment for the country or is she just not up for the craic..?!

Hope it gets a bit of publicity, for some reason people are under the impression the trinity ball is somewhat wholesome...

    Who is Jessie J?

Actually, on second thoughts, I couldn't really give a toss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,345 ✭✭✭landsleaving

She could have told the crowd to sort themselves out or she wouldn't perform if someone was being trampled on.

On the other hand, anyone smart enough to get into trinity who still wants to listen to music that bad probably deserves it, so I'm not sure who to blame.

Foreigners or Muslims or the public service?

I would have thought the greater embarrassment would be being at a Jessie J gig. F*** knows I'd want a drink.

Jessie J has had an irregular heartbeat since the age of 11, and also suffered a minor stroke at the age of 18. As a result, she doesn't drink alcohol or smoke. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessie_J
    Lightweight.

as somebody who made it out of the trinity ball alive and well (a few years ago now 2001 I think :o)

the birds all make the mistake of wearing flash shoes they can't walk in,and big flowing dress that are easy to stand on,throw in the fact that your standing on grass inside a Marquee and everyone's locked and it does become a bit of a disaster :P

As an entertainer she should be used to drunk people not listening to her, surely she's done festivals and clubs before this?

However when students drink too much they are complete and utter twats so I understand why she was a bit pissed off by it all.

I once knew a girl called Jessie who swore she lost a tictac in her vagina.
The scariest part of the trinity ball is the portaloos rocking back and forth.

Who the **** is Jessie J and why should we give a **** what she thinks?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Think she's the one who sings that irritating "Everybody look to the left... everybody look to the right" song.

I'm going to have to stop you there, people who get into trinners aren't smart, they're just a bit wealthier normally.

I always sort myself out when people tell me to when I'm drunk.

    Especially at gigs

I don't think Trinity's anywhere near as much of a rich kid magnet as UCD is.

You've a lot of checks there. Must be a Trinity grad! :p

I went to UCD, which explains the spelling problems.

Despite the above though, still with the sexy gear - always with the sexy gear... :pac:

Her look is kinda vampy though - makes one assume she's an indie/goth chick. Then you hear her music...

    Yup, here's her Twitter page:

    http://twitter.com/#!/jessiejofficial

She uses TwitLonger like a lot of Twitter users when they want to say something over the 140 character limit.

Which is just what she did with the two tweets I posted:

"Trinners" is actually quite common as a word used exclusively by non-Trinity students to mimic the way Trinity students talk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

Get with it Pete! trinners for winners! And by winners, I mean losers. But that doesn't rhyme.

Londonirish: how do you know? She's autotuned to oblivion.

    Never, not once.

Was born and raised in Dublin and have had family who studied at Trinity.

I'm from the northside though, maybe it's a southside colloquialism?

If it was such a concern to her why didnt she stop the music and get security to intervene.

When I was at Slayer gig years ago they would tell the crowd to watch out for people falling and to always help them up (And thats how it went) And Im pretty sure Slayers music is a little bit more heavy than her stuff. Drink and drugs are a great mix when you have idiots who cant handle themselves.

Yeah it's a pretty southside colloquialism all right. So southside we use it in Monaghan.
