I thought I heard on Sky's coverage last night that the rule which got PH dq. signing for incorrect score is changed.

Could this lead to some players abusing this change and not calling a penalty on themselves hoping that it is not spotted.

Yes without a doubt, if true this will lead to all out cheating by the pros.

yes i fear the same, more people will hope to pull a fast one i think, but hopefully not too many or it will damage the name of the game

Presuming some tongues in cheeks here.. Anyway, afaik the rule is fairly specific and does not broadly apply to signing for an incorrect score.

The Guardian clarifies that ... Now, players cannot be disqualified because of "facts that he didn't know and could not reasonably have discovered prior to returning his scorecard". Rather, applicable stroke penalties will be added to a score retrospectively.

How will they decide what is an appropriate penalty to give to a person?
