Good chance the world marathon record will be broken tommorow. Just read this article, would be great to watch these guys battle it out for a world record.

6 pacemakers? if it doesnt go it wont be down to anything but lack of talent to do it by the lads imo

The talent is there, records are there to be broken, with the quality of the field its a great chance to get the world record

I think the marathon can be watched from this website http://www.universalsports.com/marathon/index.html

There are some great interviews with the competitors running in the Rotterdam marathon in the links below

How can anybody say that a bunch of 2.05 marathoners are not talented enough to break the world record if everything goes according to plan. Personally I expect a sub 2.05 to win but not the record. However, these athletes are talented you know

I think he knows they are talented but are they talented enough to run sub 2.03.59?

Not necessarily. If they start running tactically rather than going for the record then it won't fall, no matter the amount of talent.

In fact, the number of super fast elites in that race could work against them. Let's wait and see.

I think people are misunderstanding me alright i didn't mean they aren't talented I meant that if these athletes cant break the record tomorrow i cant see any of them holding that record and we will have to wait for some other runners to come through who can step up to the task of breaking it (unless the likes of Lel or Wanjiru can manage to break it). Of course only genuine worry which could affect a record attempt is the weather

TBF i think the fact their are 6 pace makers along with the seven runners means with such a large high quality front back i dont think anyone can really afford to be tactical

Poor pacing in the beginning at 10k they were 16 sec under WR pace at 15k 9 sec under WR. They crashed in the following 10k.
