Bertone produced it in the hope of Alfa Romeo signing it off for production and contracting its manufacture to their car making division, Carrozzeria Bertone:

It's a pity it didn't make production, as it really is quite breathtaking. Apparently the bloated Alfa Spider is what we got instead.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

    Nice!

I wouldn't call the Alfa Spider bloated though. A friend of my neighbour has one and it is absolutely stunning in the flesh

I'm quite a fan of the current spiders looks, if not it's driving abilities.

Think it looks a lot sleeker than the Brera. i do think that GT soft top is stunning though. Any rear shots?

I do agree that the outgoing Spider is a beautiful looking car. It's just a bit heavy and doesn't really have any great engines.

I think it was more of a reference to what they weigh. A 3.2 JTS comes in at 1845kg

The spider has some of the best proportions of any car today, very classy.
