Guys, I'd like to know how to go about transferring my itunes database(basically a complete copy) from my Pc to a netbook in order for taking with me when I go travelling next month.

I want to have it with me for syncing iphone and also in case I need to do a restore(its JB).

Have no idea how to go about this so would appreciate a few bits of advice.

    thanks.

I don't have the link handy, but go to apple>support>itunes, and it is one of the FAQs there.......

If it were me this is what I'd do:

    Install tunes on netbook
Copy the iTunes library file (its in the iTunes folder) from your old computer onto USB stick (or email it to yourself)
Paste iTunes library file into iTunes folder on netbook
Move all your music to your netbook ( I'd use a portable external drive, but whatever you want to do your self)
Once all that's done tell your netbook iTunes where to find your music.

Your library should be Intact without having to add it all again

Extra cool bonus feature: wherever you travel if they have wifi then enable home sharing on iTunes and your phone, you can stream all your music to your phone via wifi without having it take up space on your phone.

I know where this the itunes library file is, but there is also "library genius" and "library extras" files. Do I have to transfer these as well?

How do i tell new itunes account to find my music?

Also, will all my apps be on the netbook?

good question, i dont use genius or extras, so i've never bothered with them, perhaps someone who has can comment?

edit>preferences>advanced to specify the location of your music.

to bring your apps across do the same with your apps as you've done with all your music (copy onto a drive) then place it in its respective folder on the netbook.

should be in a folder called mobile applications in your itunes folder, just copy it to the itunes folder on your netbook

Just so as I'm correct, when transferring my apps to new netbook, do I have to copy them to a hard drive first, then copy the mobile applications folder over to the netbook?

Can someone tell me if I do all the above, will I have all my playlists and apps from my old pc on the new one?

I'm a bit worried that when I sync my iphone with the new library on the netbook that if all the apps including the jailbroken ones aren't properly there then Im screwed.
