Question on Tax

    Hi Guys,
Sorry about asking this question, I have flicked through the stickies and I`m still a bit lost.

Basically, I moved to Dublin from the North in July 09 and worked till end of August 10. And was paid weekly, I was on a salary at the time.

I came back up North for family reasons and I was advised to claim my tax back.
I contacted the office in Dublin, Sent off the forms and was then told I didnt pay any tax whilst I was there?

    Would this be correct?

Also I sent back the form for the Income Levy. I received a letter in March telling me that my refund had been cleared and that it was to be transfered to my bank account. Which it still hasnt.
I`ve contacted the Dublin Office, but still get no clear answer to what the heck is going on?

Any advice would be really grateful as I am completely lost now as to whats happening.

    Thanks in advance

    Your employer should have given you a P60 for 2009 and a P45 in August 2010 .

Have a look at both of these valuable documents ,and especially check the column where it says ' tax paid '

If there is a value there it means you paid tax , and if it is zero/ 0.00 , it means you paid no tax , .

The information on these documents will determine whether or not you are entitled to a tax refund .

You can also register for ' paye anytime '' and check the figures online @ www.revenue.ie
