im old enough to go but my cars arent.... i defended this show after the debacle the other year but their definition of what is "Classic" is indefensible.

Diden't go last year because of the previous years chaos.
I am going this year because i'm told all problems were solved last year.
    That make any sense?

perfect, if your car is pre-1970:(

post 1970 cars are allowed at this show, it just that they give preferance to pre 1970's vehicles. My Dad always goes to it in his 1972 car.

Granted it is €5 per person for a post 1970's car.

    More details

This show always divides opinion. Post '70 is a good cutoff date to raise cash as many exhibits will be 1970s and upwards, €5 a car is a nice earner. Is there a charity benefiting from the show?

The hubby is planning to go to this show but I'm a bit worried after hearing about the problems with traffic problems at last years show.
Has it really all been sorted?

    says pre1970 on the poster...

Durrow is now bypassed so traffic should be better.
Is wasnt too bad last year, the year before was the worst.

    Durrow Vintage Club Entry Form
Entries must be returned by the 8th April for inclusion in this year’s show. Due to the huge number of exhibits that attended our show last year without prior entry, this year in order to cater for everyone we need all entries to be sent before the 8th April together with full entry fee & copy of Insurance in order to plan for parking and plaques etc. This year there will be no meals given to exhibitors on the day of the show. There will be food stalls available on site. We also wish to advise everyone that any person damaging any of the fencing or property at this years event will be dealt with by the proper authorities on the day. On receipt of entry form & fee a pass will be sent to you on return. This pass must be presented at entry of this years show.
    • Pre 1970 Vehicles – Free Entry only for driver and 1 passenager – extra adult passengers will be €5.00 per person.
    • Post 1970 Vehicles – €5.00 per person
    • Children under 14 yrs free

Drove past Durrow yesterday on the new bypass.

Traffic should be grand up to then but I don't how much off the new motorway the event is.

Just a matter of getting there early I guess. Somebody i know is bringing along his classic car. Actually saw a pic of it on the photo thread from yesterday's show in swords :)

Yeah says pre 1970 on the poster. Pre 1970 is organisers preference. The closing date for entries was last week. Hoping to pop down for a while, won't have my classic.

guy's, is this a big show ? how would it compare to Terenure ( I imagine thats the biggest in the country ) or maybe Swords ?

Don't get to a lot of them, would rather use my passes to the bigger ones. ;)

Then I will drive home on principle and they will lose a couple of euro on admission fee, no skin off my nose at least the Capri will get its legs stretched...

I spoke to Austin Ryan on the phone last night & I asked if I was to drive down in my car would I be allowed in even tho I haven't pre-booked.

He siad that so long as I was there BEFORE noon that that would not be an issue, I would be able to pay at the gate.

My big concern now is will I be able to get a big RWD V8 back out of the field at the end of the show..... I have heard lots of horror stories now about this show from people who had been there in years gone by... does anyone have an update on the condition of the display area's??? i'm still in two minds on this one.... it's a long drive down to turn back if the field is a mud bath as I've been told it will be....

Yes I know it's in a field, but my question was more around what sort of condition said field might be in??

I was at the show in Swords last weekend & was parked in a field with a lot of other cars but it was a lovely flat field & was not muddy at all & we where all able to drive out nicely.

I'm told that the field in Durrow is not like this... although I've never been there so can't comment myself, was hoping that someone more local to Durrow might know what the field is like.... is it nice & hard or is it all soft & muddy right now??

    Dave

If it Rains,Soft and Muddy on Way In and worse on Exit.

Thats how it was in Past Years.
