    What's Bray Golf course like?

Thinking of joining but it looks very hilly for a high handicap senior like me.

Is there a good atmosphere round the clubhouse? (Are the natives friendly?)

It's hilly but not like you are constantly playing off slopes. Just a lot of walking up hills to tee boxes.

    Lovely clubhouse.

If you join get used to putts breaking up slopes!

    Hi

I joined last November so here are my impressions so far but please be aware that they are limited to just the last few months.

The holes themselves are not too bad in terms of hills, it is usually the walk from the green to tee where the hills are and they can be steep but are usually a short walk. Most people of mature years would use electric carts to help with the hills. I am early 40s and by no means fit but I find it OK to walk and I have played with members who would be in their 70s and they seem to be coping well.

The course is relatively short and from the back tees is still accessible for the shorter hitters. For the high handicappers of which I am one (but not for long I hope :D) you can get away with not being straight off the tees, but you may find yourself with a lie that could be on a severe enough slope. The greens are in very good condition and can be difficult to read when you are new to the place)

I enjoy the course and I think it suits the higher handicap. I was a member previously of Druids Heath and that was a long track even off the forward tees.

The course seems to be very well run with lots of different competition formats and some specifically for the senior members. They have a great junior program and a very fine clubhouse. They seem to have plenty of social events although I have not been to any as yet. These include card nights and snooker.

Food in the restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Pros are good and helpful. Most people I have met so far have been very nice and accomodating.

    I hope that helps you.

Am sure you will play it before forking out the dosh anyway!?
Played it a good few times in classics etc
The walks to the tee boxes are a pain in some of the holes.
Personally i would'nt join it for the money they are looking for but of course each to their own and all that.

My da is a senior 5 day member in Old Conna and i think they might be taking in members which might be temporary membership.
You would need a couple of members to propose you(great if ya knew a few) but a far better course imo and close to Bray golf club if your looking in this area.
    Worth enquiring about .

I would definitely play a couple places before making a decision anyway.
