Hi guys. I saw an ad in the Meath Chronicle this week for a massive sale of all sorts that is happening in the Marriott this Sunday. Does anybody know anything about these sales and if they are worth going to? I'm hoping somebody knows what I'm talking about because I can't remember the name of the company running the auction  They had Xbox 360's listed for €40 (reserve rice) and TV's and laptops for stupid prices, as well as random things like Grandfather clocks and the like.

Would be great if anybody had any information on these sort of events. :)

I went to one of these auctions in Longford. On the advertisement does it mention there base as somewhere in Carlow? Everyone was charged a few quid going in, €2 i think, even if you bought nothing.

Pure scam. The main guy had glasses and sounded like he was from the East end of London, Del boy...

I reckon they plant people in the audience to work people into a frenzy to buy crap. Like a fool i bought a poxy digital camera. It was a relativly inexpensive lesson i learnt.

If it sounds too good to be true then its a scam.;)

There will not be any Xbox, Playstation, Wii, etc, and any TVs or computers will be of extremely poor quality.

It's not even an auction. When you get there some plant will win the decent item, and everyone else will be given an opportunity to buy similar, which will in fact be tat. Just stay away from it, and everything like it.

I'd go so far as to write to the hotel and ask them do they realise that their name will be sullied by having this kind of scam operating on their premises. Many hotels are unaware of what exactly this is, and might appreciate being informed.

Figured it would be a loud of crap alright. Especially since they claimed that they were shifting stock for Brown Thomas and I worked in their stockroom for 5 years and knew they would never get rid of stock in this way. Thanks for you opinions folks.
