Honda ATV TRX500 Quad?

Ok I am about to buy my new toy a Honda Quad, have been doing a bit of research into it lately and visited a few dealerships and am going to buy the Honda TRX500 with button semi auto gear change. I have never driven a quad before but from everything I have been told and read this is the best from a utility viewpoint and from Youtube videos etc. it seems you can have quite alot of fun with it.

I suffered quite a bit the previous two winters with heavy snow and one of these would be great in the snow also. I am getting prices of around €7.5k to €8k (this includes the VAT) and I was wondering would there be any saving in buying in Northern Ireland? I am going all out this year and hope to be buying a 2011 D-Max later in the summer also when the Road tax on my current car expires.

Any tips or suggestions on quadbiking, it is for both recreational, hunting and general farm use so will be used on a daily basis. I will not be taxing it but would insure it encase it was stole.

Finances have never been healthier but I want to get value for money and buy the right product and not some worthless lemon.

There's been a few threads on quads in the recent past, mostly about avoiding the cheap Chinese ones but you might find a bit of useful advice if you do a search.

Going by the number of celebrity quad accidents in press over the last few years, I'd say a helmet was essential, especially on a head that seems to be bucking the trend! You ever thought of advising Eamon Gilmore on how to run the economy ;)

You can't go wrong with a honda quad, I've had them for years and I've never been let down. Don't have one here but my dad has a 450 back in canada. He uses for plowing snow for around 4 months of the year and around the farm for the rest of the year. If you plan on doing any serious offroading in the mud i'd suggest a good winch as they are very heavy, but if its just around the farm and plowing snow then no winch is needed. If you do get a blade for it, get one with a handle for lifting up and down and not the one that attaches to the winch as its a pain winching the blade up and down. As far as the dmax, any reason for that particular 4x4, if cash is good, why not look at the hilux
