    Hi there.

I'm hoping somebody can help me out.

I'm getting married in a Registry Office tomorrow at 11.15am and am panicked because I don't seem to have a Marriage Registration Form.

When we completed all the procedural requirements/signatures etc. in the office in Lombard Street, we were given a green folder with a guide to the MRF but no MRF itself.

It says in the guide that you MUST bring the MRF to the wedding ceremony.

Bizarrely, it also says that you MUST allow the solemniser to examine the MRF prior(!!!) to the day of your marriage.

I've called a few people I know who were married in a Registry Office and they don't recall bringing any documentation to the Registry Office on the day of the wedding ceremony itself.

Can anyone please cast any light on this - I'm desperate!!!

    Thanks in advance

You poor thing; I'm sure this is the last thing you need :(

We were registered at the HSE last week and our green folder has a two page form clearly labeled "Marriage Registration Form". We're having a Catholic ceremony, but I wouldn't imagine that a civil ceremony would be different.

About giving time for your solemniser to review the document, we were told that handing it over before the ceremony was sufficient. She also mentioned that it's not a big deal if you lose the MRF before the ceremony (before the papers are signed)...if you stop into the HSE they can print you a duplicate. Would be a tight time crunch, but could you or your partner get over to the HSE office?

Sorry for your hassle...hope it works out okay!

Thanks to the kind folks who messages me on this.

Looks like we'll be Ok but I'm heading to Lombard St at 10am just to be sure to be sure!

Since you're getting married in the registry office, the registrar held onto the MRF for you. You only need the MRF when the solemniser is not a civil registrar. 99% sure this is how it work from what I recall.

If you're not sure, it would be worth ringing Lombard st today to doublecheck.

That's what we were told too. Should be fine.

I know I'm years late here but we're in the same situation, our ceremony is tomorrow and we weren't given a marriage registration form at the notification appointment.

Just wondering how your situation worked out?

Hi there. I can't remember the exact details but we didn't need it in the end!
