Octavia boot leak when using windscreen washer?

Myself and the brother were refilling his 2005 hatchback Octy's windscreen washer reservoir. When he switched it on the water level immediately started dropping. We poured litre after litre into it and scratched our heads for a while. Then we noticed the huge puddle at the back of the car. Shite. Anyway, we found the spare wheel was full of water and the LHS of the boot was soaked. We suspected the washer pipe had popped off but we couldn't find it and it was getting dark.

Any ideas on how to find the popped tube and how best to repair it?

The MK4 Golf had a similar problem where the connector on the hose going in to the rear washer cracked and this then caused it to leak, however it would only leak when it was actually used. I suspect you may need to take apart the trim on the boot to get access to it and identify the leak, it's probably just come loose seeing as it's leaking all the time, should be just a case of placing it back on, for a permanent job maybe use a cable tie around it.

just pop off black trim from hatch, water pipe connects to wiper behind this.
you can check the rear spray nozzle too to make sure its not blocked, a safety pin should do the job.
also dont us fairy liquid or the like it clogs things up on these.

Ah yes, I remember it well :pac: my own suffered from it! In my case the pipe connectors were not designed well and throughout the winter when ice built up in the lines the force from the pump forced the the connectors apart. Sealant & tape just to be safe.

Hopefully it's as simple as reconnecting the water pipe.

Happens alot with VAG's, on the octavia you have to strip off all the panelling on the left side of the boot to access the pipe/plastic joiner behind it.
