    @andynoonan
Might be a good idea, for anyone that uses map my ride, to add a boards cycling #hashtag to the text already produced by the app when you tweet a w/o.

    Obvious signature is obvious!

    I'm awkward. I don't use MapMyRide. I use Runkeeper.

really, really dont get twitter - and me working in IT

Twitter is a useful tool for me in a number of ways

1 - Promotion and Engagement with people that are interested in my site
2 - Engagement with other cyclists of all descriptions (Pro,Amateur) even DS's
3 - Finding out information quickly (results, team news, crashes etc.)
4 - Finding out how riders train, what they are up to
5 - Generally interacting on topics (live races, news) with people quickly

I don't 'get' twitter. It was really useful for getting instant info when heathrow shut down due to the snow and me and the family were stranded in London. Now look at the garbage that is sent out. I must be living up to the 'vet' tag on my ci licence. By the way, I don't get Facebook either

When I was commuting by train, I used to check the updates on it but since then, I only turned it on yesterday for the first time in 6 months. I just FB or boards everything.

I like twitter a lot. It was explained to me as a net version of the radio. It's just conversTions between folks that follow other folks.
I get all of my news links via twitter. I have bought a bike over twitter. I converse and have arranged to meet people via twitter.
It is simple and very user friendly.
I'm not a Facebook man, it doesn't work for me.

I don't use twitter, so if anyone ever says anything interesting on it can someone post it here please?

I saw on TV this morning that the world's greatest twitterer Stephen Fry tweeted that he loves pencils. Isn't that great*? Really makes you think.

    *rhetorical.

Pete, it amuses me that you are on a social media site posting about drivel that some numpty posted on another social media site.
You can use twitter to subscribe to newsfeeds that you regularly read without ever having to follow bland celebs.

What kind of pencils? I must go out and get some of them... if Mr Fry loves them, I'm bound to!

Yes the two are social media but are very different and you don't need me to point out the differences. I was just using world's greatest twitterer Stephen Fry's tweet as an example of the drivel contained in the twittersphere(?). He and Adrian Chiles could have been chatting about something much more hard hitting as I ate my cornflakes but no they went on about pencils for 5 minutes.

Anyways, there is noone in the world whose random witterings I would want to have feed to me, I have enough idiotic thoughts of my own.

Lance actually doesn't tweet too much any more. But i agree - some of the **** he was spouting was cringeworthy.
