Cooking chicken fajitas while billions of innocent children starve to death in Africa is pretty tasteless alright. Shame on you OP!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,811 ✭✭✭xoxyx

How did you manage that? Fajitas, one of the most tasty of foods. Hell, the only hard thing about fajitas is spelling them!!

I can PM you my super awesome fajitas recipe if you like? (Hint, the key is using the pre-made flavouring powder!!!)

Is the chicken salvageable. I'll have it in some sandwiches please.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,635 ✭✭✭xsiborg

if the phrase "self praise is no praise" were to hold any merit, could also the same not be said of the opposite- "self detraction is no detraction"?

serve them up and hope your guests are too polite to tell you they taste like shíte, no doubt some idiot will think he's clever and go "Poor Craythur, this chicken is fannntastic"... :o

Did you put the spices in after the chicken was cooked or something?

What the sandwiches are not on the way, or the chickens not salvageable?

No, at the start. Possible cause - the chicken might be slightly overcooked.

    Needed some guacamole too, methinks.

Meat and spuds is where its at Poor Craythur. Chips if you're feeling adventurous but nothing more exotic than that.

    could be worse.

you could have made a tasteless joke about about rape, had it recorded without your knowledge and then broadcast by the national media!

now that would have been a bad dish to serve for dinner!

it could have been the chicken you used.

Did ya use one of those Old El Paso kits?! They're on special offer atm in Tesco and Supervalu and they're actually pretty yummy!

If you want tasty fajitas, stay away from that El Paso powdered muck. It's vile.

For proper fajitas, fry the chicken strips on a high heat to brown, add some hot chilli powder, fry for another minute, then transfer to a plate.

In the same pan, fry some onions & peppers until soft, add some beans (kidney beans or green beans) & a tin of chopped tomatoes, then throw the chicken back & simmer for about 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

If it's really watery, boil it rapidly for a minute or two until it reduces. Taste & add salt & more chilli powder if needed. You can also add a bit of sugar. Brown sugar is best.

Then roll in warm tortillas. Serve with sour cream and guacamole. And cheese if you want it. Port Salut goes really well with fajitas.

If you think that's hard work, you should see my recipe for rogan josh. It takes about an hour to prepare & 4-5 hours to cook.

    Tastes fucking amazing though.

    I frickin' love fresh coriander.

Port Salut seems a bit incongruous though.

Could I use passata instead of chopped tomatos?

Any cheese will do - whatever takes your fancy. I wouldn't use passata though as it's a bit too watery.

If it was reduced down it might be fine - some experimenting to done, methinks! Not so keen on chopped tomatoes.
