    1) You will not get a refund from revenue for 2011. They will adjust your tax credits and you will receive €320 of additional tax credits for rented accomodation in 2011. Your next monthly paycheck at end of April should be €106.67 higher than March i.e. €26.67*4. From April on you will receive an additional €26.67 per month than before you cliamed your rent tax credit.
    2) This assumes that you are paying tax. If your salary is below €16,500 you won't be paying tax anyway and your net pay will not increase.
    3) Regarding 2010 you will have to amend your 2010 tax credits online and then request a P21 statement to get your refund. Tax credit available in 2010 was €400.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Sand.

So I will get a bit extra in my pay packet every week with the extra tax credit, nice. How did you calculate the figures ie 106.67e for April? Im getting about 32k a year gross. So with the rent tax credit I will get an extra 6.00e weekly or so? That figure is the 320euro divided by 52, is that right.

So will I claim the rent tax credit for 2010 as well Sand? As I have only claimed it for 2011.

Last time my girlfriend claimed it in 2009 and 2008 and she got back 200e for year, and we payed 550e a month for the house then, now was my turn but I screwed it up:D

Download the Form Rent 1 here and send to tax office along with a short note outlining your claim for bins ( service charges ) and your work expenses / union dues etc

Get your dentist to sign and stamp Form Med 2 also available on revenue.ie :
