How to combine a halterneck dress with big boobs?

I used to love love LOVE wearing halternecks when I was a teenager; only then I was a 30A and I'm now a 32E (I had quite the growth spurt!) Is there such a thing as a bra to go with a halterneck dress? I can't seem to fathom how that would work... but I definitely couldn't go braless, sure I'd have someone's eye out ;)

Any suggestions? Some of the rockabilly style halternecks are gorgeous and I'd love to buy one for the summer.

I just use strapless bras if necessary, or ones with adjustable straps that you can make into halterneck styles. However, if it's very fitted under the bust, then I just use the straps of the dress to form a kind of bra. I tie them really tightly - it's a bit uncomfortable, but it keeps my boobs in place just fine (I'm a 36D btw).

I've tried it with a multiway bra - you join the shoulder straps into a halter strap - but to be honest it gets quite painful after a while from the physical weight. I find the back band support doesn't work as well with that config so there's more pressure on my neck.

A strapless bra that has foam cups, as opposed to fabric with the sticky stuff on the top, would work well and be much more confortable than the normal strapless bras. M&S have them. Or a bustier might work to give some good support without gravity taking over! I have a feeling I saw halter neck bras somewhere, can't remeber now, but if they are anything like halter neck swim suits I would steer clear (the weight really drags on you neck and gets very uncomfortable... I'm an E cup too!).

I'm a 38c and have given up wearing halter necks as I found it too painful for my neck.

Thanks for all the replies; I didn't think there was any magic solution and it doesn't appear there is! Will look into getting a really good strapless bra and see how that works out. Shame about the boob thing as I love those halternecks with the really plunging back.

Best strapless bra I've ever had. I'm a 34E and this thing stays up and even gives good shape and cleavage.

Yikes, I missed out on whatever was said there. I'm guessing it was something needlessly nasty??

I find the Gok Wan many ways bra good with halter necks. Not that nasty digging in on the back of the neck.

I have never managed to find a strapless or multiways bra that fits and is comfortable yet supportive. I'm 34DD and it just doesn't seem to be out there!
Gone are the days when a halterneck was an option!

i had a basque that i used to use with halternecks. you need to get a really really good one. proper heavy duty with reinforced lining. have one from ann summers, pretty and all but useless with my (36gg) weights. had another one that had magical powers. picked it up in tk maxx and the washing machine recenetly ate it. i'm still crying.

the good ones have really thick multiway straps. once tried the usual multiways straps on it, but total fail. actually had my neck raw.

can't remember the brand of the one i had. quick search of the usual spots returned nothing either. if i come accross it i'll post it here.

so lesson learned: basques don't like washing machines.

Very interested in all the replies as I got a Halterneck dress too, and am worried about my boobage in it:pac: I think if all else fails, I'm going to get the halterneck straps made into normal straps, one of the reviewers of it says that what she did.
