    Hey guys, What strength concrete do i need for footpaths around a bungalow?

    25N. C20/25 for footpaths, slabs, patios around the house.

    25N10 extra sand its easier to get a finish with the smaller stone and extra sand.

    yes its easier to get finish but with the small chip it cracks easier

    Maybe, in your experience.......Ive put in and finished about with expansion joints etc 15,000 linear meters of the stuff over the last few years,the op wants about (guess) 50 lm.
    Wet the hardcore before pouring,finish as per normal,it wont crack if done right.

    i work at concreting and shuttering when i rang for concrete and asked them for 10mm chip as it was for a footpath they said it wouldnt be advisable to use it as it can crack easier than a 20-25mm chip and this is from a leading concrete supplier. the concrete they supply is real creamy stuff and i find it is easy to get a nice finish rather than trying to rub realy stony concrete for ages to get a nice finish.
    if using expansion joints on footpath i would keep them back an inch or two from the edge so when you nose trowel around planks it doesnt catch or show through the edge of concrete
