Ok, you know when you know you're being suckered into something but can't help it??????
Am reading a lot online lately about fat loss etc and there is this new cookbook out that claims it uses 'metabolism boosing ingredients' to 'burn fat faster' ... I suspect it's rubbish but a fool and his money is easily parted .... is there any credibility in these claims do you think? .... the fact that it's an ebook seems to be screaming SCAM at me:confused:

okey dokey ... it's American, hence the 'cup' measurements, have only got access to a couple of recipes without buying the book.
This is the link to the website http://www.metaboliccooking.com/index.php?hop=ftfl1

I've googled for reviews but they're all by bodybuilders and all seem to be 'friends' of the authors.

    Apple & Oats Snack Bar
    Servings:
    4
    Ingredients:• ¾ cup oatmeal
    • ¼ cup oat bran
    • 6 egg whites
    • 1 scoop (30 g) of vanilla protein powder (I used Protein Freeze)
    • 2 tablespoons unsweetened apple sauce
    • ¼ teaspoon of baking powder
    • Pinch of Stevia (natural sweetener)
    • Pinch of cinnamon
    • 2 apples, diced
    • Drop of vanilla extract

Directions:1. In a blender, mix all the ingredients – except the apples. Blend until the mix gets thick and pour into a big bowl.
    2. Add the diced apples to the mix and stir.
    3. Pour the mix into a baking dish and cook at 350 degrees until cooked (about 30 minutes). Cut into 4 equal bars.

    • 1 clove garlic, crushed
    • 2 diced tomatoes
    • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 4 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
    • salt and pepper
    1. Place the oil in a large skillet and brown the steaks over medium-high heat.
    2. When both sides are well-seared, add the onion, garlic, and tomatoes.
    3. In a bowl, stir the ginger, salt and pepper into the vinegar and add that mixture to the skillet, stirring to combine.
    4. Cover the skillet, turn the heat to low, and let the whole thing simmer until liquids evaporates completely.

I actually got an older version for free last year. The recipes are not too bad, a good few food prep tips. I wouldn't say it is a "scam", but it is just plain ole heavy marketing. It is basically a cookbook, no more no less.

LOL, fair enough ... so it's just another cook book?
But i was curious ...is there certain foods that are "metabolic thermo-charged" ... as defined by the website as...

The Metabolic Thermo Charge of food stands for how many calories your body is going to burn just breaking down the nutrients each time you consume a certain food.

bit harsh, egg whites and protein added too. with the stevia sweetener/apples and cinnamin probably a hell of a lot nicer than porridge

Protein about 25% TEF (thermic effect of food)
    Carbs 5%
    Fat 2%

Up to 25% of protein calories are 'lost', that doesn't mean an all-protein diet is healthy.

General rule of internet buying - anything with an e-book, run a mile. Overpriced, under recieving.

Caveat Emptor and all that. Sounds too good to be true - it is.

I know, you're right, I knew it anyway but ... i'm a sucker ... and could feel myself being sucked right in lol
I'm pretty sure they're not telling me anything i'm not already picking up from this site and a few other podcasts/blogs i'm reading!
Appreciate all the feedback as ever guys

just buy some good cook books like jamie olivers recent one and Leon - both are excellent and just adapt the recipes according to your needs.

As i said most americans eat out all the time and havent a breeze about cooking
