It bothers me if its nearly every second word when its really unnecessary.
It bothers me if its towards someone that is genuine/innocent and deserves better respect.

Generally, other than that, its natural to emit some form of expression to instant reactionary circumstances or at a long term condition that causes continuing anger/frustration/etc...

Spot on there, it's all about the context.

    That's another urban legend

The odd swear word here and there, and in the right compnay, doesn't offend me. But over use is really a turn off. Shows a complete lack of articulation, and is very ignorant. Over use in any environment, pub or otherwise, is also a big turn off. I do swear, but I always think first and then open the mouth, and it's rare as well. Assess the situation, the context etc, and then speak. A swear word in the right place can really nail home a point, or make a story funnier, more interesting.

I used to curse a lot. But after so many years working in a 'sensitive' multinational company, I've learned to control my language.

Doesn't bother me so long as it's not excessive or said for the 'shock' value of it.

couldnt agree more with that.i dont do it in front of my own kids and i think its totally unacceptable.no problem with it in the company of adults.

for example :D i was in the line in tesco the other day and a kid about 4 yrs of age bumped off me by accident.he was running or something.i didnt really care but his mother came over grabbed(and i mean grabbed) him by the arm and roared for the whole of tesco to hear "MIND THE ****ING MAN WILL YOU".
a total skanger she was,all i can say is poor kid.

So, you don't think it's a problem with adults? I assume you mean the odd word here and there. Over use ANYWHERE is horrible IMO.

Only bothers me if it's in front of small children (no, I don't mean me!). Went for a meal with friends once, one of them shouted 'fúck' loudly, then noticed a table next to us with young children on; he went to the parents and apologised, thought that was good.

I disagree with the people who say 'it's a sign of low intelligence' or 'it's a sign of a poor vocabulary'. I don't think my vocabulary's particularly bad, and of course there are plenty of words to use. Sometimes, however, I think 'I'M FUCKING ANGRY!' has far more emotion than 'I'm livid'. People who are offended over it need to get over themselves.

I recieved a complaint in work before from HR for inappropraite language in the workplace. I muttered "ah for feck sake" when my computer kept restarting, and someone complained. I promptly told HR rep to feck off with the complaint, it's just a word I was using to release anger and it wasn't directed at anyone so good luck trying to rule out the word "feck" in an irish call centre.

I get annoyed whe I hear kids using it, and hea people using swear words intending to be offensive. But I say sh*t and f*ckin on a regular basis in conversation. Banned in my household by the mother, but use it everywhere else. I don't see it as any different from any other word. Same as shouting "AH CRAP" or "DAMMIT".

"Piss" is also not a swear word. I refuse to say "I am going for a pee". There is no other acceptable term for urination other than, "I'm going for a piss."

Over use of it comes across as pretty scummy.

If people are offended by swearing, then they should not watch the short version of Scarface:

    Not offended at all.

In fact I read about some study that said that cursing can help alleviate pain. Would be interesting if it was true, that's certainly a time when almost everyone does it.

Cursing doesn't indicate poor intelligence or small vocabulary. In fact, it's a pretty good release, and can add emphasis and weight in certain situations. If it's slipped in every second then yeah, it's annoying (and I'm fairly guilty of it myself - I say fuck or fucking instead of em or errrrr) but offensive? Nah. Unless you're directing it at someone, "You xxxx xxxxxx" then I don't see how people are offended by it.
