Just curious - I keep reading about check-ins on google latitude

and I have the latest version of google maps - but I never see an option to checkin like in the photo in this article -

    http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2011/02/check-in-with-google-latitude.html

is this a restriction in Ireland? Can any of you guys checkin with google latitude on your android devices?

Whats the story with that latitude thing anyway? Does it keep running in the back all the time, tracking your location?

This seems to only work sometimes on my desire running gingerbread and latest 5.3 maps

I've a HTD Desire HD running froyo 2.2.1

    maybe it's gingerbread only?

I have latest maps (with latitude dashboard) but no checkin options
If I go to Places I have no ability to check into a venue

I have the same problem on m Samsung Galaxy 2 with android 2.2.1. I downloaded the newest google maps yesterday but still no check in option. Could it be that it takes 2 weeks to learn your routines. Thats the excuse ti gives for not allowing me see the dashboard

    Hi Eske,
    Just looking at mine.
Open google maps, open latitude dashboard.
If you go to settings from there, checked is:
    Detect your location
I also have an option to sign out of latitude.
Have you set up (enabled?) latitude on your google account from a PC?

    when i Open google maps,
I can navigate to my location history
where I can see how much time i've spent at work home etc

within settings I have checked "Detect your location"

and yes Latitude is enabled within my google account

what I'm missing is the "check in" ability within the Places app
