I am going to America on Monday with EI and am currently booked on the 5PM flight to JFK connecting to MCO with Jet Blue.

If I was to turn up to the airport at around 10.30 do you think theres any chance they'd put be on an earlier flight connecting through BOS or since connection is with Jet Blue theres no chance?

With your connections i'd say it may be hard for them to change it for you. If it was a simple point to point (eg. DUB-JFK) it'd be more likely. May be worth ringing EI for the craic though, all they can do is say no.

Just as an FYI,EI137 to BOS & EI109 to JFK don't do pre-clearance at DUB.

I won't know until Monday will I be able to make the earlier flight depends what time I finish my Irish Oral at. So will probably just go straight to the airport and see what they say. As you said worst that can happen is get a no.

Got a 3 hour connection in JFK afair so at least immigration & customs will eat up some time!

there was a two week period around the start of feb when preclearance wasn't being done due transition to t2, but i went to boston two weeks ago and precleared the 137 in dublin. can't see why all flights wouldn't be done.

regarding the original question, if you were simply trying to catch an earlier flight on the same route you'd probably have a shot. going to a different city and requiring a connection is about as optimistic as a fianna fail finance minister reckoning the banks will work themselves out eventually...

Is that from experience or a presumption? Been rerouted twice to get to destination early but with Continental and Southwest. Its just the fact its with a different airline. Ah Ill give it a shot.

Apparently US CBP close at 3pm, thus there is no-one to pre-clear these 2 flights......it mad. The whole selling point of T2 was the US CBP clearance!

I doubt EI would put you on the DUB-BOS flight as you then have to change the JetBlue booking too.

Moved to travel might get more answers here.

Apparently the issue in CBP is lack of staff and long queues delaying flights....CBP is open but EI aren't happy with the level of service. Now if the passengers made their ways to CBP well ahead of time and not all at once, we wouldn't have a problem. (!!!)

Problem is,there's only a small coffee shop/bar and a small shop(in the next week or so) after USCBP so as soon as people hear that they stay 'upstairs' and leave going down until as late as possible.
