I have a Vivaro, 1.9 DI 2003, i have just replaced anti roll bar bushes, both inner tie rods, both track rod ends and both bottom ball joints, this has greatly improved the handling as expected but there is still a nasty knocking noise coming from the suspension when i go over a fairly big bump or pothole, its a heavy metal kinda bang, any ideas what it could be? I'm suspecting the rubber shock mounts on top of the struts but not too sure, anyone familiar with these vans?

It's probably shocks or top mounts but first are you sure you're not flooring it over bumps and potholes? The amount of people who drive way too fast/aggressively over potholes/speed bumps/rocs on the road is ridiculous.
It sounds like i'm taking the piss but i'm not, worryingly i've come across it far too much, even just the other day a neighbour was saying the kept hearing huge thuds from the front and rear when she hit a bump, turns out her spare wheel was loose in the back and was goin flying, causing the noise at the back, and the front suspension was fine (miraculously) it was just that she was hitting bumps so hard it skook the car, she thought it was perfectly fine to hit speed bumps at 30 plus.

By far not the first time i came across that too, like people worring about the tracking going out all the time when they hop their front wheels of everything possible and think nothing of it

i get what your saying Conrad but no its not down to speed at all, a mate has the same van and we drove over the same bump, or rather hollow in the road ehere a water pipe had been laid and the same noise isn't in his van, the shocks are not gone, ie they're damping ok its just when i hit a sudden bump etc I get a thud, but agree it could be the rubber mounts, the van was left idle for months before I got it and shortly after is when i started having problems ie rubber bushes and ball joints, even the 2 back tyres failed where it had been stood in 1 place without moving. Its not that big a deal but I know its there and its not quite right.
