Travel agent changed hotels for paid honeymoon

    Hey all,

a friend of mine is getting married on Saturday and had a hotel booked for the honeymoon in Mexico for 10 days with a travel agent. The travel agent has rung them today and said that the hotel has changed hands and that they can now only offer them 6 nights instead of 10 plus a free holiday next year or 10 nights in a different hotel.

Anyone know if there any laws (international or otherwise) which would oblige the hotel owners/travel agent to honour the original booking?

If they're offering similar or better accommodation as a replacement, then they've met their obligations.
