A nation more united than the Northern League admits

Interesting article, though it doesn't surprise me. Even in what would be considered Lega heartland, there is very strong opposition to them.

Strictly speaking this board really only covers the Italian language and literature, so I'll move this to Politics.

The Northern League never really wanted to be an independent country, to presume that would be to misunderstand the nature of Italian politics, where a stratagem is a decoy, wrapped in a tactic, built upon a manoeuvre.

Even to suggest, in some respects, that Italy is a country is almost a presumption. Italians are Italians when it suits them. So we are and we're not. Depends upon the circumstances.
