    Hey folks,
Anyone know of any decent streaming apps?
I used to have spotify (I had a paid account) but gave it up as it was 10 quid a month.
I see you can't get last FM or Pandora in Ireland.... is there a clever way around this silly limitation? Or any good alternative apps?
Help much appreciated, I needs some new tunes!

    Not entirely free, no.

You can get a US itunes account very easily where you can get the apps you want for free.Instructions here.

You can also get a US VPN which you must pay for and you will be able to access accounts on those apps and listen to music. www.overplay.net seems to get good reviews here for vpn services. I have BlackVPN which is cheaper but I have not found it reliable or anything more than frustrating on ios so I won't recommend it.

The Last.fm app is not geo-locked, so if you can get your hands on it by setting up a UK or US account, you'll be sorted. Their app hasn't seen much development in a long time, however.

Grooveshark is also available freely on Cydia, but of course you'll need to have a jailbroken phone to download this.

If your phone is jailbroken you can get Grooveshark. Although it's only a 50 song trial to start with, not sure of the monthly fees after.

Thanks for all the info so far.
I'm not into jailbreaking my phone if I can avoid it.
Looks like I'll try getting an english itunes account, then go for last fm / pandora.
I may even sign up to the paid spotify service again because I really miss it.
Ok, so it's 10 euros a month, but I find myself downloading albums on itunes for way more than that every month which I haven't been able to listen to in advance.... so I'm often disapointed.
Spotify was actually saving me a few quid!

I don't think Spotify will work in Ireland though.

Yeah I know... but I got it working before. That was about a year ago, maybe they've changed the set up since... but I was able to sign up for a paying spotify account, and then bypass the irish apple store to download spotify in the uk. Pretty dumb of me actually to get rid of my spotify account.

Ah I see. I know 2 of my friends were big Spotify users, both on mobile and home devices and both have jumped ship to Grooveshark now as they cannot access Spotify in anyway, paid or not.

We7 have started operating in Ireland. It's free, perfectly legal and has a bank of 800 squillion tracks (or some ridiculous number like that), which includes a lot of good Irish stuff like Ham Sandwich, Fight Like Apes, Cathy Davey, etc. They have apps for iOS and Android too, but I think you need to sign up for a paid for account to use those.

    www.we7.ie

Interesting aside: We7 is backed by Peter Gabriel (who's music is also on the site).

Using this at the moment and am impressed ... it's €9.99 a month - to use the app, where you can download your playlist content to your phone when connected to wifi
    Any questions let me know
