honda accord leaking oil

    my honda accord rear main seal is gone, anyone know how much itll cost to put right,the car is 00 124,000 miles on it,i know the gearbox has to come out,anyone have an idea of the cost for the job or should i give it a go myself,or leave it to the pros

    It would be near on a full day job in a garage as the front subframe has to come off so to try it yourself, if your not familiar with it, make sure you set a side a couple of days at least...

    Thanks for replying paintdoctor:),as i have a second car myself i reckon i could do it myself,ill give myself plenty of time, do you know if i need any specific tools for the job,or is a ratchet set and spanners enough for the job.

    Wrong person:D

    From memory there is no specialised tools needed other then a clutch alignment tool for refitting the clutch(you can get a cheap one in halfords) but if your doing it without a lift etc then you'll need decent axle stands and jack etc, and a second pair of hands to lower the subframe and gearbox..

    Ericthecarguy.com has a bolt by bolt video tutorial on how to do a Honda clutch - think it's about $10 to download. Even if it's slightly different to an accord it will be useful for sure.
