iPhone 4 restored for no reason

Plugged my iphone 4 in to charge just a while ago, was texting away as it was plugged into my computer. Then I click on iTunes and a box comes up with (i think) restore to factory or restore to previous backup. My last backup was from the 7th of March.

So I left it and a few minutes later the phone shows up as restoring. Couldn't stop it in either itunes or on the phone so I let it run and it's deleted all my texts (and other stuff I'm guessing) since the 7th.

The only thing though, is if I do a search in text messages, it's coming up with messages that I received today, but if I click on them it shows as the 7/3 being the last received/sent.

Can this be restored back? the messages must still be on the phone somewhere if they're showing in a search?

    Iphone 4.
    4.0.1.
    Jailbroken.
