Just a bit of a rant

    People are idiots.

I am a DoE tester and everyday people come back for retests on day 21, the last day before a full test is needed. If something is still not right, they then have no chance to repair it before their time runs out.

I am sure it is the same in the NCT centres.

If you were driving down the road with no test and were involved in an accident and it turned out there was a major fault with the car you could claim you didn't know and you may get away with it.

If however you had been for a test 2 weeks previously and knowingly drove the vehicle with these faults then you really are up schit creek.

    /rant over

I can see why no one would be back within a week; finding a mechanic/getting the money together/time off work/getting parts or whatever. But if people leave it 3 weeks, its their own fault if they have to make a new booking.

There should be a recommendation by the testers on failing someone to start making enquiries the same day as to how to proceed with the repair, as most people wouldn't have a clue what's involved.

I always test a month before my actual test is out so I have enough time to fix anything I missed myself.

I always tell them not to leave it 'til the last knockings in case there is an issue.

They don't tend to listen thought. They think they are being smart by not bringing it back until day 21
