Absolutely loads of options but none of them official! Your best bet is to join a club and get shown that way!

Any routes or gpx files would be lovely, I don't foresee a join to a mtb club in the near future.

As a side question, can you be in two clubs?

You will it very difficult to get anyone to publish the routes of unofficial trails on the net - bear in mind that they have all been "hand made" by the various club's members!

And yes I believe you can be a member of two clubs!

You sure? I was told that was prohibited under Cycling Ireland rules. Annoyingly enough, that even applies if one is a road bike club and the other is a mountain bike club apparently.

No I'm not sure! I know a member of our mtb club is also a member of a road bike club but whether that's official or not? Funny I was thinking of joining Bray Wheelers in order to be able to do their league road races but I'm also a member of a MTB club - surely that couldn't be against the rules?

That will be extremely limiting for you then. The clubs create the trails, and know where they all are. I certainly wouldn't post any clubs routes on the internet, as these routes are not official. Is there a particular reason you don't want to join a club?

No reason at all, I am just time limited in most of the part. May I ask which club are you in and when you are going out for spins?

Also why do you call them though unofficial routes? What's official?

Official are Ballinastoe and the 2 new trails at Ticknock.Unofficial is every other part of the Dublin/Wicklow mountains!!

And what's the problem of sharing an unofficial route? Or you are only allowed (theoritically??) to cycle in the official ones? Sorry these may sound as dumb questions but I am only new in the MTB scene.

How I didn't think about it earlier.. Garmin connect..-> explore..-> Lots of routes there, happy days!

BTW, which are the mtb clubs in Dublin? I only know MAD and Epic.

You should check out IMBRCC and MAD MTB for there introductory spins..

As mentioned there are some proper MTB trails by Coilte If your only new to off road biking then these trails will be more than enough..

It is illegal to do anything other than walk in any wooded area, except those that are offical trail centres. This is why you will not find any info on public forums, Club members build their trails and share them with other clubs and due to the restrictions enforced (or not ;) ) the whereabouts is kept within clubs. But if you get out on a spin with the clubs you will find the trails, just keep an eye out for beginner spins, if only to locate the trails.

Also, many clubs build and maintain trails, and don't particularly want people who don't contribute in any way coming along ploughing up their trails in wet, mucky weather etc.

Often, the best, most enjoyable trails are built and maintained by committed mtbers who know what they're doing. By not being part of a club, you're generally missing out on that.

IMO, mtbers should be doing some bit of trail building from time to time, and feeding back into the sport. Good trails don't suddenly appear by themselves

All the other poster have covered the main points well.

The MTB clubs in the Dublin area are:
    MAD, EPIC, WORC, IMBRC.

Between them the clubs have spins going on all the time. I'm in EPIC and there seems to be somebody organising a spin most evenings, and several over the course of weekends. Keep an eye on the MAD and EPIC forums for beginners spins. If you want to get the most of mountainbiking you should join a club for many reasons (Several of which relate to having more fun).
