Does it make sense to apply for JSB?

    Hello,

I am a bit unsure here. I moved to Ireland at the end of July. Initially I had a job offer due to start 2 weeks after I arrived, unfortunately this offer was withdrawn a few days before I was supposed to start...so here I was, having a 1 year lease and suddenly no job. I've been holding on with the help of my family (my sister has been living and working here since 2004)and friends while trying to find a different job. Unfortunately things didn't work out yet so I am struggling a lot. Currently I have no money whatsoever, my rent is due and there is no food in the house.

I have been actively looking for a job ever since August (all online applications so I have no letters to ptove that but my profile is online on monster and I have several e-mails from different companies). I never got anything written for the job offer as I never got to sign the contract (was withdrawn the day I was supposed to). I asked the company for a verification but they refused on the basis that I never worked for them. Now I have read the requirements for JSB and I don't think I'll get it but was thinking of applying and explaining my situation....but is there any way I can satisfy the habitual residence condition? I know I don't get benefits from my own country already so I am rather clueless right now.

Thanks for all replies in advance!

i can't think of any way you could.
but you should be eligible for SOME form of social welfare from your own country (if you returned to live there).

job seekers benefit is based on previous work history and stamps you have paid, it seems you havnt paid any - what country are you from and circumstances will be looked into - also where is your centre of interest is the biggest thing, where are your family, are you working, have you children in school etc all this is looked at.
    best of luck
