Hi all, can anyone tell me if there are any Heineken Cup, French super 14 or Guinness premiership games on foreign Satellites? Either FTA or Subs, if there are what type of setup would i need to get these?

I'm sure you know yourself that the manners league is fta on BBC and terrestrialy on rye and tg4. And for the heniken cup some of the matches are fta on 5west if a French team are playing. Al jazeera sport also site the heniKen cup a sub costs €100 per year though and they do not show every match.

Tonight is biaritz vs tolouse in the helneken cup and is being shown live on France 2 at half four Irish time

And looking ahead, there's going to be 2 French teams in the semis so depending on the draw it could mean both semis on free to air.

Dont know if they can show the final should a French team happen to not be in it.

Anyone know what sats/channels the world cup may be shown on?

Sure it's on BBC and rte, in hd too, isnt it?

In Germany sport1 are showing it but they have two channels and only one is free to air so not guaranteed to be on

ITV1 HD and ITV4 will be showing it FTA in English.

RTÉ only have the rights to a few games.

Perhaps, but I'll be in Slovakia when the WC is on so was going to look at the possibility of getting it via sat there. So yeah, if anyone can point me towards any possible options, it'll be hugely appreciated :)

France 2, which is FTA on 5W would be a good bet.

It seems that tf1 has also a block of games from the French rights deal.
It's not free to air is it?

Both of the Heineken European Cup - Semi Finals will be FTA on France2 (5w)

    - Leinster vs Toulouse. Sat 30th April @ 15:50
    - Northampton vs Perpignan. Sun 1st May @ 15:00

I'm pointing my 80cm sat at 5w, so ready to go for these games.

Looking at the liveonsat page, they are also FTA on:
    TV5 Monde (africa)
    TV5 Monde (maghreb)

As a matter of interest, what size sat would you need to pick up these "TV5 Monde" channels in Ireland?

You might aswell forget about the African version. As for the Arabic version, here is the satellite footprint

    Am I missing something?
Is this not the correct footprint for 5w?5wab3_w.gif
Easily receivable on 80cm. Which is what Budgi3 suggests.
As for the Arab/Africa versions yeah unless you have a massive channelmaster or similar you're getting nothing off 7w and even then from Ireland its marginal reception. :)
