Nice photo of the 12th at Augusta - "Golden Bell" - to get us all in the mood. Roll on Thursday.

PS - got this book from Tuthills newsagents on Saturday for 1.99. I got it from the one in the Pavillions shopping centre in Swords so I dont know if the rest of the stores have it but there were plenty of copys in the one I was in. Some value.

Looks easy enough. Nice and short, the bunkers might stop you from having a worse finish, but the nice thing is that the green is wide. I would be pin high most of the time but I can go a few yards left or right, so it looks like this hole would suit me. If the green was 10 yards wide and 50 long then I would be dead.

The swirling wind is the main problem on the hole as, depending on the pin placement, it's only between 135 to 155 yards approx. It's caused some havoc over the years for some players even though they're only hitting 8 irons to wedges most of the time. Just goes to show you don't need a 200 + yard par 3 to make it a great hole.

Agreed. I like courses that are not all about having to hit a 3-wood to a par 3.
The 13th in Dromoland is a lovely par 3. The 7th is prettier but the 13 is a great hole.
The 17th is a mess though. Whomever designed it has made it impossible for any older golfer to play it.

In the last 20 years, it has been the third hardest hole on the course.

I didn't know that - says it all really.
