Peugeot 207cc 1.6 oil top up query

    Hi
Was gonna show my friend how to top up the engine oil in her 207cc yesterday. However, when I pulled out the dipstick to check the oil level,I discovered the dipstick 'rod' is surrounded by a wierd tightly compressed spring type piece of metal along its full length. It has two tiny washer type pieces of metal about an inch or two apart at the bottom end of the dipstick, indicating max and min I presume, though they weren't marked. Despite letting the engine 'rest' after use for 30mins (the manual says 15mins) every time I dipped the wiped off dipstick, it comes out appearing to be covered in oil along its length and cause of the design its impossible to determine the oil level. The manual doesn't help and the car's low oil lights been on intermittently all week. She's taking it back to the main dealer where she bought it tomorrow to get them to check the oil level, but I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this kinda dipstick and has a solution. Apparently 207's are known to have oil level warning light 'issues' so its hard to know whether the car really needs oil and I don't wanna over fill it. The main dealer ain't the best, but its where she wants to take it, so hoping for a second opinion here.
    Cheers
    Max
