Hi everybody, I'll be moving to Dublin for a job in Leixlip and I was wondering if there are any mtb trails suitable for a quick spin after work in the area, within cycling distance 5\10 miles, the less paved roads the better! Nothing too epic but preferably not paved paths either. Or should I look for somewhere else in Dublin? :D

Hmm, Carton house might b your best bet. Look up the trails they list on the website, nothing very technical afaik as they are suited to walkers and runners also.

There's also the woods down by the water works. No idea what condition they're in now, but there used to be some decent single track which I built one summer.

Hi, there are no real mtb trails around Leixlip but what I do is link a few together such as going out one canal and back the other, from Lucan I can go out to the 12th Lock at Adamstown to join the Grand canal as far as 14th or 15th lock and then head over to Kilcock to join the Royal canal as far in as Cabra and then hop over to the Phoenix Park for a lap and then home.

Otherwise there is St Catherine's Park in Leixlip, Carton House, Donadea Park, Phoenix Park, Corkagh Park.

If you can make it over to Tallaght you can go up around the Slade which has proper mtb trails.

    Donadea Park

I would have mentioned but they do have alot of no cycling signs up... not sure if they are strict or if its a case of don't interfere with families out walking and you will be fine.

It's the same for any of the parks, don't go there at the busy times, go early in the morning maybe, or when it's raining!
