Out of all the talented cars in that segment available, any reason why you're interested in one of the worst:D?

It will no doubt be 100% reliable, but you can do so much better than a Lancer. Also, no-one will want a secondhand petrol, especially one that can't make it into VRT band B and the €156 tax that goes with it.

As someone who owns this car this is my experience.
    PROS
    - extremely comfortable
    - lovely drive. I had a Focus prior to this. The lancer is in a different league to the Focus, much much nicer drive and much more solid on road
    - Plenty of extras, bluetooth is handy integrated into radio, leather steering wheel, alloys, air con etc.
    - Very spacious, great boot space
    - Attractive cars imo
    - Great pick up in accelaration
    - excellent fuel comsumption compared to Focus. I also have a golf and the petrol comsumption in the Lancer is akin to that of the Golf

    CONS
Tax of 300 in new tax bracket based on emissions

I read some posts on here when buying the car and they were like the post above. I spoke to my mechanic and trusted my own judgement & bought the car and could not be happier.

it suited my price range and my desire to come up to 2010 model - not to have to worry about an nct and all that - my situation is that i have roughly 14k to play with - i.e look at cars up to 14k - i'll be trading in - my trade in is allowing 4k - leaving 10k for me to come up with.

few days ago a garage rang me with a 2010 kia rio 1.4 saloon ex model - 4,500kms on the clock - €11,950 - comes with 6 yr warranty - all kias come with 7 yr warranty now parts and labour and up to 150,000kms

my bottom line is i'm looking at a car costing up to 14000euro - want something strong reliable and something that will last me - i've been told the kias are mechanically sound good to drive fit the 156 tax band - not the most exciting as far as interior - but not as plastic as they used to be.

as i said i havent made my mind up - so if anyone has any suggestions for me car waise with the money i have to spend please let me know - all feedback appreciated.

lastly i did look at a 2009 golf 3 door 1.4 petrol - felt it was overpriced and everyone is telling me to stay away from the 1.4 in both the golf and the focus

i'm no expert on cars - but spending the money i'm spending i want the thing to last me - lastly i dont do an awfull lot of driving - mainly city driving in dublin - my mileage wud be less then 10000 per year.

again thanks for all the feedback.

    Jason
