Anyone tried IPL for sundamaged skin?

Had a consultation in a place yesterday and she has promised me the sun, moon and stars but I'm reading very mixed reviews of the results of IPL. I'm looking to treat some old sun damage on my chest, fine wrinkles, etc., all of which she swears will disappear. Some first-hand experience/feedback would be great.

    Many thanks.

I can't give any info but I'm also interested in having it done. Like you I'm also slightly sceptical. It sounds too good to be true

I think I'm going to go for it so I'll be a guinea pig and let you know how I get on...

I've had it done i will be going for my third session next week.

I want to acheive an even skin tone, improvement on fine lines and a freckle free face so the options i considered where lazer or chemical peels. The consultant advised me to try the lazer as it has less down time.

Am i happy with the result?

After the first session a lot of freckles went a very dark colour then eventually broke down and disappeared after a few days.

Second session - none of my freckles darkened and have not faded at all! the consultant did say that it totally depends were in the layer of the skin they are at that the laser can reach them.I will add that there is a difference to my skin it does seem less wrinkly.

If no more freckles shift after my third session then I'm seriously considering the chemical peel.

Hmmm. Do you mind me asking where you're getting it done and do you know what machine they're using?

Thanks. I was wondering if some machines are better than others. The one in the place I'm going to is called an IPL Quantum.

do you know how well it works on spider veins?

It's supposed to be effective. Again, not sure how much truth there is in the claims..

I have lots of dark round freckles scattered over my body, absolutely hate them. Too much sun abuse over the last 10 years. I really want to get them removed. I emailed derma clinic requesting information but have yet to get a reply. Is there a waiting list do get in there? how much is the consultation and how much is each session?? Since I have them on my arms and legs it will probably cost a small fortune!

Your best bet is to ring them and arrange a consultation (it's free) one session which lasts about 30 minutes cost €150 but they sometimes have special offers on block bookings.

RE Spider veins - yeah it's supposed to break them down alright. I have some on the sides of my nose, they haven't cleared yet! my third session is tomorrow ill let you know how the results are coming along next week.

    Hi there,

That's considerably cheaper than my place! Could you do me a favour and check out the name on the machine tomorrow and let me know what it is?

Made an appointment with the dermaclinic. The soonest they can see me is the 2nd week of June!!! Consultation is 100 euros, they also said it is with a surgeon, which is good! Shame about the wait though!

    Just an update...

Went for first session on Thursday. Things looking good so far. Freckles/sunspots have gone darker but seem to be breaking up, which is exactly what's supposed to happen. Skin seems plumper and fewer fine lines. Still early days but I'll keep you posted. I had neck and chest done.

I found the first session great exactly as you describe, it will be interesting to hear how you get on after your next session.

P.S I had to cancel my appointment last Tuesday but ill update you all after my next visit.

Hi there. Just wondering how long it was before your skin lost that 'dirty' look. I know I only had it done on Thursday morning but have a party to go to this Friday so hoping it will have cleared considerably by then.

    Thanks!
