    hey guys,

Does anyone know where I can find cheap return flights to chicago from 4th august to 15th august?
I've tried a few cheap flight sites and the cheapest I can find is €657 on expedia.
The reason I ask is my brother who has flown back and forth to chicago around that time has said it's a ridiculous price, and that hes gotten cheaper flights before.

    Thanks

Flights aren't as cheap as they once were. €550 - 650 is par for the course these days I've found.

Flight prices chop and change due to price fixing within airlines. On any flight you could pay x amount yet the person to your left could have paid triple what you paid and to the left he could have paid less than half of what you paid.

€650 to Chicago wouldn't be too bad if it includes taxes and charges?

ah right, fair enough. The cheapest i'm finding now is about €700. theres so many comparison sites that it's hard to find the cheapest. there's 3 of us going and we're paying for the holiday in segments as we save money. we plan to get lollapolooza tickets first (cos theyre on sale now and shifting fast), then accomadation (have a place bookmarked which seems perfect and we want to get it before it becomes unavailable) and then flights (as they are always available and are unlikely to change in price too much).

Should we be shifting priorites at all or does this seem ok?

Generally, the later you leave your flight, the more expensive it gets. (The cheaper seats naturally tend to sell out quicker..)

My experience is that Aer Lingus is often among the cheaper (and direct) options to Chicago. Think I saw something around €600 for August when I was looking lately.

Last weekend I booked return flights to Chicago with aer lingus in October for €587 including taxes.

If you can hit Aer Lingus when they are having one of their (many) sales, you might get cheaper than that. I got flights to Boston for myself and my husband for start of Sept for less than €450 each. That said, I booked that early, back in Feb and it was in the first hours of their sale. The price was back up to nearly €600 each the following day. Sign up for their newsletter and you will get advance notice of sales.

Have you priced with BA or one of the other British carriers? It's a bit of a balls having to go through an English airport, but it can work out a lot cheaper. I suppose it just depends how important saving a few quid is.

I used cheaptickets.com for cheap flights to Vegas, got them about 150 cheaper than anywhere else. It's not showing anything any cheaper for your dates right now but keep an eye on it!
