    Well lads.
Im thinking of getting back into deer hunting, had a 22-250 in the bad old days.
I am leaning towards getting a .308 but could be persuaded to consider anything if it seems a good deal. I was looking at some .243's and .270 but have an open mind as they will all drop a beast if you stick a bullet in the right place.
I have noticed some used rifles with asking prices as much as a new one and some good package deals on new rifles.
So if anyone is thinking of selling a suitable rifle of know of one for sale that would be worth a look let me know.
    Cheers.

I looked for it yesterday. It was sold already. It looked like a nice deal, and the seller was willing to sort out some permissions.

Chuck in the deer shooting and take up ISSF target rifle.

Then you can buy a dear free rifle.

    Pun intended :D

    I cant eat the target.
Much rather a free deer rifle.
I do a good bit if target shooting anyway.
I used to do a good bit of deer shooting when it wasent popular, no problem with permission as I still do a bit of vermin shooting for the farmers with the 22 and shotgun.
If I managed to pick up the right rifle I wouldent mind using it for target shooting and hunting.

    Cheers.
I will drop in to Athy for a gawke, I wes in there after Christmas and all they had was new stuff.
I have heard that .270's tend to burn out the barrels due to the higher velocity and grouping starts to spread out the, but then again that could just be the chat you get to talk you into going for a new gun.

I know those rifles are very good, a friend of mine has one in .300 win mag, so I know it will be expensive. I am trying to keep my budget close to €500ish and maybe pick up a scope later.
