Tooth Root Length - Curious

    Hi folks,

I was at the endodontist yesterday - a follow up appointment after my root canal last May. Thankfully all is well and the RCT appears to have taken well.

However we had a brief discussion about the length of my tooth roots. The roots of the treated tooth were long but the roots of the tooth in front (a pre-molar) are even longer. He measured it at 28.2 mm.

What is the average length of a pre-molar root?

And would having such long roots be the reason why I appear to find extractions particularly difficult/stressful?

    Thanks.

Premolars from crown to root tip are usually around 21mm, 28 is quite long. Extractions might be more difficult but really that depends more on the ammount of tooth remaining to get a grip on than root length persay.
