dunno what to say..saw him in merion square park.
if i hadn't heard him speak, i wouldn't have recognised him at all.

awkwardly approached him but he was very friendly, top man to speak with.. very down to earth.

just said he was relaxing with his son and grandson over in dublin for the weekend before flying to dubai for some gig..very fond of ireland and dublin in particular...

anyone else see him about dublin? does he have family here?

Paul Young, always liked him...has a great voice.

But I was always disappointed at the end of Planes, Trains and Automobiles - some sh1tty version of 'Every Time you Go Away' rather than the proper Paul young version.

I'm a man of modest means.
He was very humble and respectable towards me.
Think about what you're implying man.

Being Irish, when I see a celeb, I ignore them, just in case they'd have the audacity to think I think I know them and ignore me.

On closer inspection, these are loafers.

Strangely enough, he mentioned that was the reason he liked Ireland so much.

But apart from the ignorance of most dublin people towards his status, he found them hospitable strangers.

I myself cannot fathom what he Mr Young sees in Ireland really..judging by some of the comments here.

Don't mistake internet waffle for real life encounters.

All those that I come across what are/were famous, I just say "hello" or its equivalent, be polite and don't annoy them.
Live and let live. The vast majority of Irish folk (outside the internet) in Ireland do similar.
THATS why a lot of famous people like it here. Most of us neither stick our noses in where its not wanted or are rude enough to totally blank them either.
Its all about time and place - and keeping a respectful distance at the appropriate time.

The Irish people have a VERY good name when it comes to treating our visiting or resident 'famous' - and thats well known worldwide.

That's the attraction though isn't it? Here we don't fawn over "celebs" and make fools of ourselves but still we appreciate them in our own way...

You had a nice experience and it was cool. Don't mind the tossers that make fun of it.

Don't think he was really implying anything, just throwing a few Paul Young lyrics out there.

    Who is he?

    Spot the youngster! :D

If I had met him in the street, I probably wouldn't have recognised him(old age on his part:D) but I do respect him, he had a few great 80s tunes.

    Paul Young, legend.

He has the most lines on the Band Aid song 'Do They Know it's Christmas?', because, as Geldof said, he was the biggest star in Britain at the time.

Always seemed like a nice bloke.

You shouldn't have been surprised to have seen him Dublin, as he's the type of man who is always on the roam.

Let's not forget he's looked at life from both sides now.
