i am a current 3rd year law students who enjoys his studies and social unlike the above poster. The college street campus, the one that you will attend, has a great atmosphere and enviroment. Although law can be hard it can also be throughly interesting.

Hi, just thought I'd make a reply here since no one else has and it's been 19 days. To be honest, I know this is only an interenet forum but it kinda does speak volumes of W.I.T. As in to say no one gives a toss :/ This has nothing to do with your choice of course, this is simply what your life as a W.I.T. student will be like. So if it's camaraderie you seek in a college and an actual decent place to attend in terms of facilities both internally in the college and externally in the city, I'd go elsewhere....In terms of the law course, I don't know much about it bud, there's two campuses and law/arts/music/social studies are on the smaller campus closer to the city centre, there again you'll find yourself further alienated from the core of campus life but there again maybe none of this will bother you and you'll be quite happy to go about your studies? Just my perspective as a student in this dry boring dull lifeless cesspit...there's too many wexford people, I reckon that's the reason why it sucks so much :)

as they say bump? anyone there? nah thought not...I tried dude.

I'd have to say, I disagree. Just because the forum is quiet (and it can be busy enough at times during the year) doesn't suggest anything about WIT. Not every law student or general student is or knows about this forum for starters.

The Cork Road campus is modern and has lots of facilities. Its always improving. Far from perfect, but not as bad as you make it out to be. The College St campus is much poorer and a bit 3rd world if you like me but many many students love it down there. Waterford is an old city, but its improving slowly but surely. We have a decent enough nightlife, decent jobs and decent things to do. Its a great city and many students enjoy it down here.

The Law Course I know nothing about, but I know people in it. Ill ask them to post here if they can. There is an active Law Society and some very strong folk within that society so one would assume its a strong course.

I did hc legal studies in wit it was great experience but be aware theres a lot of subjects and alot of exams compared to say a social studies studies over the two years we did subjects such as i.t communications, tort law, contract and employment law, company and comerical, evidence ,legal accounts, conveyancing, land law equity, family, probate law, and so on. every semester u have about five to six exams and approx, 2-3 1,500 word assignments and around the same amount of continious assessments. Most subjects are really interesting and u really can remember alot for exams as long as u go to all classes. Its quiet a high drop out rate as people don't understand the amount of class time attendance needed. It is possible to have a healthy medium between class and a social life but its impossible to pass exams unless u keep on top of ur outside class work. our class dropped from around sixty to jus 20 at the end of the second year! lectures are amazing and generally really helpful and really good to e-mail back!! its not like the larger uni,s feels more like a small class!
    Hope this was helpful!!!
Also be aware car park in college street campus which is not the main part of w.i.t is very very small!!!
Also conveyancing and litigation are very important subjects if u want to be a solicitor! these subjects aren't thought in the likes of ucc and others. I no the course is also alot more intensive than unis in ireland as my friend was studying law in ucc they only had 10 hours class time but alot more outside learning. If you are the type of person that rathers being self taught a uni would be better suited to if u need more lecture-student environment than w.i.t would be a good choice at the end of the day you get the same law degree with the chce in third year to do straight law or change to international trade with law. then in fourth year the two third years come back to combine back into straight law this however is if you start with hc legal studies which is the level 6 course .
